fun fin de semana!

hey....this weekend was fun! on saturday, we went shopping for a new stove for my house...and after going to what seemed like a bazillion stores, we finally found one. then after that Carlos´ wife made me homemade honduran food, which was yummy. then saturday night, i went to my first Honduran party. it was really cool....we went to the house of a friend of carlos´ family. His house was huge and it was incredibly nice. it had like a bunch of patios, it was sweet. and i met a ton of people there and spoke spanish for like 2 hours straight...and they were all amazed at how well i speak given such little time in spanish speaking countries, which felt like an amazing compliment, cuz i was starting to lose confidence in it. and from the way Carlos and the pastor were talking....they are like incredibly greatful that we came here.... which is good, cuz it makes me feel really special. but at the same time, im trying to practice humility. but anyway, after 2 hours straight of speaking spanish, i was exhausted....but then i met 1 of my future students, and she spoke english to me. her english was pretty good, but she still made mistakes, which of course i corrected. but she likes the same bands as me! how ironic. her favorite band is Taking Back Sunday. I told her about how ive seen them in concerts and stuff. she was so amazed.

THEN on SUNDAY!! i got my first experience at a latin american futbol game! it was really cool. but there werent as many people there as i expected...i guess cuz the team they played is really sucky. the stadium holds like 35,000 and id say there were like maybe 5,000 people there. but in 2 weeks, they play their arch rival, and they sell out the stadium. its gonna be sweet...im so pumped!! i guess they have to keep the two team´s fans seperate with riot cops and stuff. its gonna be so awesome.

other than that....ive just been working on my yearly plans. theyre not hard to make, cuz u just follow the book, but they take FOREVER.

i hope all is well back in NY and MI!! talk to u all soon.

hola de honduras

hey everyone. everything here has been good so far. weve just been having a lot of meetings, theyre kinda boring cuz they just repeat the same things over and over, but its given me a ton of opportunities to listen to and learn spanish. ive made improvements already, which is sweet.

my house is cool, ive got a roomate from north carolina. weve got 3 bedrooms, a living room, and kitchen, but we dont spend much time in the house anyway. usually were at the school during the day, then at night we´ll go out somewhere, to see a movie, to the mall, whereever. the malls here are really sweet....as nice as the US or nicer.

the school is cool. i ended up not teachign math. we all switched around, it was funny, but i ended up teaching literature and grammar, which is cool. we start classes a week from monday.

ill update more to let u all know whats going on. hope all is well in the estados unidos.
